An update

After my last post, things have calmed down (is it bad that I don't want to type that for fear I just jinked myself?) ....

I interviewed for a new job, outside the University where I currently work - submitted resumes to the school district where Justin lives and had a follow up interview/presentation yesterday. I need to get Thank You cards out in today's mail and tidy up a few personal housekeeping issues before my long day of meetings.

I'm also fighting a really, really nasty cold. Poor Justin, I was feeling really bad last night and running a slight fever ( I know this because any sign of a fever and it makes me super emotional and very weepy), I was cooking dinner and literally lost it in the kitchen. I immediately took some Pain Reliever and Sudafed and tried to stop being such a whiner.

Justin's family is taking us to a German Food Buffet/Special Event - I am really excited and hope that the cold meds allow me to at least taste the food.

I am very hopeful that the past few days of interviews will lead to new opportunities, could you please say a prayer that something works out from all of this?  Thank you!

It is too cold....

I feel the winter sludge. It hasn't been above 35 degrees in 2 weeks or so. That is far too cold to run outdoors in my opinion. I haven't been to the gym in months. And my eating habits leave a lot to be desired.  I went a head and preregistered for the on site (during my lunch) for Weight Watchers - it really helped last time, having the weekly weigh in and being held accountable for my weight in front of others really does make me think twice about what I am putting in my mouth.

I am also going to a four day work week until the end of March - I am hoping I can force myself out of bed extremely early on two of my four work days and head to the gym.  Me and mornings do not go well together but I have to give something somewhere.

Happiness? Can you have it all?

What do you want out of the new year (goals and resolutions will come soon)? To put the answer very simple, all I want is to be happy.

However, happiness is different to every person. What makes me happy certainly wouldn't make most. But really, how does one become content with all aspects in your life?

Justin and I spent a lot of the weekend talking about being happy, making sure the other was happy and what made us happy. Truth be told, he makes me happier than I have ever been. I can and have been happy alone but the happiness I have found with him is describable.

The thing is other things in my life aren't as perfect. For once my love life is exactly where I want it to be. Now I just need to get everything else in order.

My job, I do feel blessed to have one in this economy and thankful that I can pay my bills, isn't fulfilling.  I do mind numbing task, deal with issues out of my call of duty and work for a department that is sinking faster than the Titanic.  I think my job is the main source of my discontentment, I have no room for growth or promotion at my job. Every day is a struggle to get myself up, ready and at work.  Once at work I really have no desire to do my work.  It is a HORRIBLE attitude and I hate that I feel this way. I was talking to my best friend about everything today and she said that it could be the weather (hear that Justin, take me to the beach ;) ) and just a winter funk but I really think I have to start looking ( I applied today) for something better and more of a fit for me.

I have also debated quitting my job completely, substitute teaching and finishing my Master's.  I am not sure if I am willing to take that chance and leave my finances up in the air so much.  I am very much a "Type A" so that is really, really hard for me.

Justin and I are also planning on moving in together this summer.  Moving in with him means I would make an hour commute each way - worth it to be with him, save HUGE on rent and bills (even with the extra fuel), but it is making me nervous. Not to live with him, but just the uncertain of everything.  When exactly will I move? What furniture will we keep?  What job will I be at? Will Justin get a Graduate Assistant job?  Would we be ahead to keep an apartment in town where we work and go to school till we are both done?  How do we know what choice is the right choice?

I am struggling on how to get everything I want.  Pretty selfish I know, but it is the truth. I want the most out of life and want each part in my life to be satisfying.

On a much happier note - I am sitting on Justin's couch, snuggled up and watching Real Housewives. Right now, at this moment. I couldn't be happier.....

LADY FROM WORK....

Yesterday as I was leaving I overheard that the lady that is making my life hell still has an interview sometime this month in Florida. Sure would be nice if she left and I didn't have to.

She is applying to another Northern University - please let one of them take her! PLEASE! :)

Work

I have a love hate relationship with my job. I feel weird posting this in blog land but I am going to keep names, jobs and what not out of it and vent, after all it is my journal.

There is one lady who makes my life challenging to say the least. She is very rude, hurtful and just plain two faced. I work in an educational unit, higher ed and she is just very very juvenile. Yesterday she told me she was going to give work to my secretary to make sure it got done right. Yeah, talk about a slap in the face. She has no friends, no personal life and is a very very lonely bitter woman.

Since I am a University employee I get to be first in the job hunt, internal applicants are chosen first. I have submitted 5 new request. Please, if you do so, pray that something bites. I love the woman that work in offices around me, I love 99% of my faculty - but this woman, this woman is making my life a nightmare. I constantly feel as though she is talking about me (she really is, I am not paranoid) and it is making me very upset.

I hate leaving the college I work in (not the University just this branch) but something has to be done, I don't know how much more I can take.

Friday Fragments

1. Man have I been MIA - I have moved, ugghhh I think, 99.9% sure EVERYTHING of mine is out of my huge, nicely spaced 4 bedroom, attic & basement big back yard house - to my tiny two bedroom apartment. My life is chaos right now. REALLY chaotic. But it is done. Sat is the yard sale of all yard sales and then I shall never return to the old house. And to be honest, I couldn't be happier about my move! I LOVEEE my new place, the location, neighbors and everything in between!

2. My grandmother passed away. She deserves her own post. She will get it. When I can.

3. My brother and I got into something yucky while home visiting for the funeral. My rash is on my face, his all over. Thankfully my BFF is a doctor. He does house calls.

4. I love my job in the summer. I come in late, leave early and pretty much run the show. I also got a secretary. I don't want August to come. She leaves, faculty returns to work and my life goes back to chaos (at work atleast).

5. I am getting a room mate. A male room mate. A male roommate I really don't know. My friend knows him really well, we are going to try it out. Extra rent money never hurts.

6. WVU football is just around the corner. I CAN NOT WAIT. I won't go into an hour long post here about football. But let's just say, WVU FOOTBALL is one of my top 5 favorite things in the world!

7. I finally feel as if my life is having a purpose and some direction. New place, job going better, weight going down. Things are kinda ok right now. Grandmother was suffering so as horribly sad as her death was, we are at peace now. So that stress is gone and a snese of almost peace is there. Strange and maybe morbid but I am not trying to be. We loved her a lot and no one wants loved ones to suffer. So things are looking up. Money still isn't completly right but I see some light at the end of a very long tunnel

Snow, Blog Swap and other tid-bits

I am finally back in my office. Sigh. I was really hoping for ONE more snow day LOL

I haven't worked but only 4 hours this week, not to shabby. And I am salary so I can't complain. I HAVE worked from home some though and overall I am just tired. Exhausted to be honest. I am not sure why. I feel like I could sleep for weeks and not get up. This weekend I am doing NOTHING but relax around the house, sleep, clean and do homework. Only one more work day until I can sleep, you would think with all these snow days I would be well rested - but I have been staying up WAY too late and getting up early.

My desk is a disater. Ughh. I want to nap under it though. All I need is my heated blanket and pillow and I could sleep under it. One of the faculty memebers in my unit has a very warm office and is blaring classical music. Can you say perfect sleeping settings. Throw in my chicken noodle soup from Chick-Fil-A and I am done.

Someone blog me some motivation. Please? Thanks!

On a much more happy note - If you love getting mail packages and sending others something - Kelly is doing a really neat blog swap... Read about it here http://www.oxboroughchaos.com/2010/02/blog-swap-iii-favorite-things.html

Maybe I should have went to Starbucks for lunch, lol. Ok enough whining - Thursday night TV will keep my wide awake tonight. So is life :)

Have a great Thursday. - Cassie

My Goals

I am a little late writing this post - but I wanted to write, for my record and a way to look back next Jan and see where I have been.

Family
I want to spend more time with them. I have grandparents who are ill, parents who are stressed and a family that is more scattered than I wish to think about. But I want to make more time for longer phone conversations, more visits and more memories.

I want to be closer to starting my own lol. This is something very important to me, and I pray that God sees it in my near future.

Work

I want to find a job I love. I don't mind my current job, I like most of the people in my office - but I want/need more money and really want something I LOVE.

Finances
I want to have at least my personal goal to be in savings. I want to spend a little less but still have money to do things I want. Is this possible??

Organization
I want to become more organized. From my car to my desk to even my closet I need better organization.

I want to have a better grasp on papers and keeping my desk clean. I really need to become more organized.

Exercise
I will be at the gym no less than 4 days a week!
I will loose the weight this year. No if/ands/or buts!

Health
I will start to eat better, avoid fast food and make better food choices.

School
I will finish these four courses in the spring and be in grad school in the fall!

I will keep uptodate on my laundry - even putting it away.
I will get up for work early and on time. And make sure I am put together before I leave.
I will no longer hit the SNOOZE button 23439 times before crawling out of bed.
I will get my 8 glasses of water a day and enjoy them, LOL
I will spend more time with people that make me happy and less with those who don't.
I will go on another 2 trips this year. Somewhere, anywhere anything PLEASE.
I will go to the beach this year^ this can be one of my trips it just HAS to happen
I will take better care of me.
I will try to be happier than yesterday, everyday! :)

Catching up

Thanksgiving - This Thanksgiving was special - it marked the first time I'd meet my two older cousins and families. My dad had a brother (diseased now) and he had two children. We all knew about them but were told they wanted nothing to do with us. Turns out they did, but the mother wouldn't allow it. They came in contact with my dad a few months ago and it has been a really easy process. They (and families) are awesome! It was one of the best holidays we have ever had. My mom had 15 people staying at the house and 50 for dinner. It was simply AMAZING! I love having such a big holiday meal.

Friday after Thanksgiving was the best game of the WVU season. We played in the Backyard Brawl. We beat a top ten team this year and appears we are going to the Gator Bowl! The game was amazing (cold) but amazing! I have 2nd degree burns on my leg from hot feet but it was worth it. :) I love my "Eers and what an awesome win for the seniors. I am debating making the drive to Rutgers this weekend (you know the birthplace of really bad college football ;) We even tail gated in the light blue lot for this game. It was a lot of fun and totally worth it. I love games like this, even though I am not a huge Coach Stu fan (more personal reasons than anything) I am proud of the team this year and really, REALLY hope we go to the Gator Bowl and stomp Bobby Bowden!

I love my job - I do but I just haven't been giving work my all. Now I have only been here since June, but I feel in a slump. I have piles on my desk an NO motivation to do them. I want more. I need more creativity - more educational interaction. I have applied for some different jobs. Nothing full time that would take away from this one, YET. The one I really want is teaching adults how to read. I really, really want it. So keep your fingers crossed.

I had lunch with a new IRL former Blog friend. She is fantastic. She got a great, well deserved new position. I couldn't be happier for her. (Btw how'd your convo go last night?) It made me realize that I do miss working with kids. But not in the teacher sort of way. I want to be administration if I go back to a preschool environment. That will be hard for me to do though - I HAVE to have insurance and HAVE to have benefits. Most centers have none or not the best package. So for now I will stay here - maybe I can get into the Early childhood program/center here. Still work for the University but with kids in some aspect.

My final contemplation is the fact that I am deciding to move. I live almost 25 mins away from work, school and the gym I go to to. My life is in this town - my friends and my work - everything. But I LOVE my house and my room mate. And if I move I know she won't come with me (family owned home). Plus the extra rent money will be hard to come by. I have to have a place that allows pets and want one with a pool (hey, if I am moving I want to move UP, lol) I have looked at this place - http://www.theloftsonline.com/

They are nice and in my budget but they are furnished and I have a crap ton of furniture. Plus they are out of one bedrooms. I want to be close to the stadium - that would be sooo nice - plus be close to work (they are 5 mins from each other if that). But, I would miss my roomie and my big house with a fenced in yard. I just want to find my dream place, dream price and dream location. Is that too much to ask?

I hope ya'll had a great Holiday and I hope to quit being such a blog slacker! :)

Is it worth it

A computer question - any feedback would be great

Part of my job has somehow been that I transcribe (we don't have any office personal) our meeting notes, (but I guess it is since I am the only one that doesn't have her Ph.D.) but anyways - is there a program that will take my recorded notes and transcribe them for me? TIA

overhearing

The walls of our office are very, VERY, thin. I sit in the middle of our department. I hear everything. There was a pretty big mistake made, partly my fault but more someone elses. I over hear the someone else taking up for me - saying how would she know - she did what she should have.

Kinda nice NOT getting blamed for stuff! <3

Friday...

I was hoping that today would be a slow day, one I could catch up on things at work. Sigh. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. I have a meeting at 11 till lunch regarding these darn tutui*tion waivers and then I have meeting all afternoon about schedules and how to get our college (Human Resou*rces and Edu*cation) schedule to work out with every other college in the University. I will get out a little early, supposedly. Maybe 4 instead of 4:45, so I am fine with that. But the stack of work I will come back to Monday will not be fun....

It has been so miserably hot here. Sticky and in the 90's. It makes me wish I was at the beach.... in a little over a week I should be there. Maybe I will save those details for another post....I bet you are on pins and needles waiting, huh? Well you would be, if I only had readers lol....

Oh and Kelly, if you ever do come back and read...Thanks so much for reading and commenting on my first post! Your kids are super cute! And I am excited to try the yummy crock pot dish you posted today!

Have a great weekend!
