Sportsline

Tonight a group of us went to my very first Mountaineer Statewide Sportsline. It was a great time. Our head football coach meets with the the voice of WV Sports and have a live press/radio show.

We enjoyed drinks, football talk and the Pep band.  We also got to see pictures of the new uniforms Nike created for us.  WVU was was one of ten schools to get these battle uniforms - I will do a post soon with pics of these.

But tonight was great! Great fun, great friends and great football!  Tonight just made me more excited for football! Saturday is kick off and I can't wait. This is hands down my favorite time of the year! Something about college football and fall makes me happy.  Being a Mountaineer is such an awesome feeling and one you can't recreate! T minus 2 days.  Let's gooooooo!!

Friday Fragments

1. Man have I been MIA - I have moved, ugghhh I think, 99.9% sure EVERYTHING of mine is out of my huge, nicely spaced 4 bedroom, attic & basement big back yard house - to my tiny two bedroom apartment. My life is chaos right now. REALLY chaotic. But it is done. Sat is the yard sale of all yard sales and then I shall never return to the old house. And to be honest, I couldn't be happier about my move! I LOVEEE my new place, the location, neighbors and everything in between!

2. My grandmother passed away. She deserves her own post. She will get it. When I can.

3. My brother and I got into something yucky while home visiting for the funeral. My rash is on my face, his all over. Thankfully my BFF is a doctor. He does house calls.

4. I love my job in the summer. I come in late, leave early and pretty much run the show. I also got a secretary. I don't want August to come. She leaves, faculty returns to work and my life goes back to chaos (at work atleast).

5. I am getting a room mate. A male room mate. A male roommate I really don't know. My friend knows him really well, we are going to try it out. Extra rent money never hurts.

6. WVU football is just around the corner. I CAN NOT WAIT. I won't go into an hour long post here about football. But let's just say, WVU FOOTBALL is one of my top 5 favorite things in the world!

7. I finally feel as if my life is having a purpose and some direction. New place, job going better, weight going down. Things are kinda ok right now. Grandmother was suffering so as horribly sad as her death was, we are at peace now. So that stress is gone and a snese of almost peace is there. Strange and maybe morbid but I am not trying to be. We loved her a lot and no one wants loved ones to suffer. So things are looking up. Money still isn't completly right but I see some light at the end of a very long tunnel

Football Sunday. Is there anything note relaxing than hanging out in sweats watching a little fooseball? I have no steak in the teams playing today. I will root for the colts, former Mountie plays and the Saints for a friend lol. I am updating from my phone I wanted to post something lol. Have a great Sunday. :)

Catching up

Thanksgiving - This Thanksgiving was special - it marked the first time I'd meet my two older cousins and families. My dad had a brother (diseased now) and he had two children. We all knew about them but were told they wanted nothing to do with us. Turns out they did, but the mother wouldn't allow it. They came in contact with my dad a few months ago and it has been a really easy process. They (and families) are awesome! It was one of the best holidays we have ever had. My mom had 15 people staying at the house and 50 for dinner. It was simply AMAZING! I love having such a big holiday meal.

Friday after Thanksgiving was the best game of the WVU season. We played in the Backyard Brawl. We beat a top ten team this year and appears we are going to the Gator Bowl! The game was amazing (cold) but amazing! I have 2nd degree burns on my leg from hot feet but it was worth it. :) I love my "Eers and what an awesome win for the seniors. I am debating making the drive to Rutgers this weekend (you know the birthplace of really bad college football ;) We even tail gated in the light blue lot for this game. It was a lot of fun and totally worth it. I love games like this, even though I am not a huge Coach Stu fan (more personal reasons than anything) I am proud of the team this year and really, REALLY hope we go to the Gator Bowl and stomp Bobby Bowden!

I love my job - I do but I just haven't been giving work my all. Now I have only been here since June, but I feel in a slump. I have piles on my desk an NO motivation to do them. I want more. I need more creativity - more educational interaction. I have applied for some different jobs. Nothing full time that would take away from this one, YET. The one I really want is teaching adults how to read. I really, really want it. So keep your fingers crossed.

I had lunch with a new IRL former Blog friend. She is fantastic. She got a great, well deserved new position. I couldn't be happier for her. (Btw how'd your convo go last night?) It made me realize that I do miss working with kids. But not in the teacher sort of way. I want to be administration if I go back to a preschool environment. That will be hard for me to do though - I HAVE to have insurance and HAVE to have benefits. Most centers have none or not the best package. So for now I will stay here - maybe I can get into the Early childhood program/center here. Still work for the University but with kids in some aspect.

My final contemplation is the fact that I am deciding to move. I live almost 25 mins away from work, school and the gym I go to to. My life is in this town - my friends and my work - everything. But I LOVE my house and my room mate. And if I move I know she won't come with me (family owned home). Plus the extra rent money will be hard to come by. I have to have a place that allows pets and want one with a pool (hey, if I am moving I want to move UP, lol) I have looked at this place - http://www.theloftsonline.com/

They are nice and in my budget but they are furnished and I have a crap ton of furniture. Plus they are out of one bedrooms. I want to be close to the stadium - that would be sooo nice - plus be close to work (they are 5 mins from each other if that). But, I would miss my roomie and my big house with a fenced in yard. I just want to find my dream place, dream price and dream location. Is that too much to ask?

I hope ya'll had a great Holiday and I hope to quit being such a blog slacker! :)

Moving
Is it worth it

WVU - LET'SSSS GOOOOOOOO

Kelly is hosting a team sport and tradition post. If you don't know Kelly check out her blog! She is an amazing lady, you'll love her and her sweet baby Harper :)

I am a WVU girl. 100%. I love my 'Eers. I have a key chain that says, I am a Mountaineer Fan and damn is it hard! Only WVU fans will get it, but no one knows heartbreak and how to be a kick butt underdog quite like we do.

Now before the game, it's crazy. One of the most popular places to go is the Blue Lot. People drink, eat, drink, flip-cup, corn-hole and socialize. Some of the best food can be found here and about 30,000 people tail gate in this lot... The blue lot ^ this is a huge hospital parking lot filled to the brim with people, RV's and cars.. GREAT TIME
Check out this link to an ESPN coverage of our tailgate (under 40 secs) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZkdQwfOEYE&feature=related

Morgantown is a football town. People of West Virginia love God, Family and WVU :) We take traditions very seriously! Some of my favorites are the first down cheer.... It is a brilliant science and such a neat cheer. It gives me goosebumps and always thrills me :)

We have the cheer that one side of the stadium chants - let's gooooooo while the other replies with a MOUNTAINEERS!
We all wear certain colors, we have gold rush days, white outs, blues...we are a fan base that unites.

There is also the wonderful band, they do a great flying WV and a great state outline during the half time show!

There is also the tradition of after the win, you stand with 60,000 of your closest and best friends and sing our favorite song.... COUNTRY ROADS, Yes the John Denver Song...
In 2003, SIOC rattled off a list of 100 things you absolutely, positively had to do before you graduated -- or before you died, at least. #3 on that list was Hold hands with a "West Virginia mountain mama" and belt out Take Me Home, Country Roads alongside the Mountaineers football team -- and 60,000 others -- after a home win. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/sioncampus/10/27/east/index.html
.Almost heaven, West Virginia.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bsx666C7hk
do yourself a favor, check out the video. This is my senior year, we were a tad under the influence but still makes me tear up lol. I am so thankful for my good seats and not the student section anymore, although it was a great time I love being closer to the field.
Now, while I usually have a beer or two I am not huge drinker. A lot of people that go to WVU do drink, it is the #1 party college town. But I don't go for the drinks I go for the football. Despite the alcohol in this video, the kid does a good job of showing you what a tail gate in Motown means.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VeHrU3BpDQ&feature=related
No me, there is nothing like a WVU game. We have a great stadium, great fans and tons of Mountaineer Pride. If you are thinking about joining a great team in the Big East, do yourself a favor and become a Mountaineer. We will teach you about loosing, winning and having a great time. But remember there a few Mountaineer rules I will leave you with :)

MOUNTAINEER RULES TO LIVE BY
1. Never schedule anything important on a day WVU is scheduled to play football. · Don't get married. · Don't have a baby. · Don't die. There are typically 353 other days of the year to do those things on. Choose one of them!
2. Never attend a wedding during a WVU football game unless you carry a TV... and watch it during the ceremony and reception.
3. It is against the rules to not wear gold and blue on ANY game day. More points go to those wearing football jerseys, hats, t-shirts, sweatshirts, pants, boxers, jewelry, and jackets, preferably all at the same time. Good old gold and blue always works especially if it's old school stuff from your WVU days. Anything else is always gay.
4. Always and I mean ALWAYS, return any "Lets Go" with a hearty "Mountaineers!" This is true even during funerals, sex, in foreign countries or when witnessing the birth of your child.
5. Every vehicle you see while driving that contains a Pitt or Virginia Tech sticker should be honked at then flipped off. To be on the safe side, do this to every car with a Pennsylvania or Virginia license plate.
6. When Notre Dame plays Pitt, it is mandatory to despise both teams. There are no winners.
7. You cannot have a second favorite football team behind WVU. You are only permitted to have another team that you hate the least.
8. It is OK to be emotional (and even "tear" up) during the following: First beer of the first tailgate of the season Your child's first WVU game When the band plays the Alma Mater, Simple Gifts, or Country Roads When Tony Caridi says, "It's a great day to be a Mountaineer wherever you may be!" Watching the sun rise on the way to a game Anytime anyone mentions Miami and blocked punt in the same day WVU winning the National Championship
9. Always take off your hat during the Alma Mater and physically remove the hats of anyone in your vicinity who fails to do so.
10. Tailgating is mandatory. And by tailgating, you must be drinking beer before 6:00 AM. This includes both home and away games.
11. When you die, you must have at least one item of WVU memorabilia with you. (Specify which one in your will, that way your spouse won't pick something stupid).
12. Your children should be taught to let you know when they "have to take a Panther."
13. You are forbidden to fall for the National Media crap sandwich that JoePa is still a "good guy." In reality, he is a bitter senile old man reduced to a cheerleader and referee-baiter. His credibility went south forever when he hired Galen "Cheatin" Hall to resurrect his sorry football program.
14. Recruiting must be followed as intensely as any game. This is true even if it puts your job/career at risk.
15. Attend the Spring Game. It makes it easier to survive the summer.
16. Try to never boo a former or current WVU football player who is playing in the NFL (Not even Chris Henry). But as always you can boo any player who once played against WVU with all of your might. (ie, dog killer Michael Vick aka Ron Mexico)
17. Correct anyone who doesn't refer to WVU as "THE" only real university in West Virginia .
18. ESPN employees must be verbally taunted at every opportunity. Note: Mark May is Pitt Grad!
19. Hang a WVU flag outside of your house every day. If any of your neighbors counter this with a VT/Pitt flag, it is your solemn duty to tear it down and deface it anyway you see fit.
20. It is important to consider the "good old days" ARE NOW. Enjoy them!!!!! And Let's Goooooo Mountaineers!!!!!!
Welcome to my blog :) I am a twenty something girl trying to figure out life....

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future". Jeremiah 29:11...
