My room mate has a beautiful St. Bernard, Ben, who I love very very much. But he isn't mine. I help take care of him when she is out of town, but he is her dog and they have that connection.
I have been presented with an opportunity for a Fench Bul*ldog. I thought I posted the link for the puppy, but it isn't showing up. Hmmmm. I will fix that when I get to my computer, I am in the lab now watching students take Comps. Anyways....
The pup is NOT the price shown, he has been reduced a lot. OVER 50%!!! He is 12 weeks, all shots and really, really, REALLY stinkin cute!
Now the down side. I have been working out after work (time to get in pre-college weight) and am gone 12 hours. Now I could go in the morning and be home earlier in evening, around 5:30. So not that bad. But is it fair to a dog to be in the house for that amount of time. Now my room mate is home and she could let him out every now and then. But still. I know lots of people who work full time have dogs....any advice?
I am going to go see him again tonight, and hopefully, the answer will be clear... I think it is but I have puppy love. I don't need a dog. I want one though. But I don't think I have the time to devote to one, do I????
Opinions are welcome!
Hmm. . . I love dogs, but it's obviously up to you. My hubby and I have a Kitty, and we are always saying to ourselves. . . GOSH! A dog would be SO much work. If you have the time though, go for it. They are truly the best companions. :-D
ReplyDeleteGetting our dog was the best thing we could have ever done - I had no idea how much she would bring to our lives. As I type this, she has chosen to sleep as cute as could be on the couch, with her head on a pillow - and I type that because, for the most part, that is what dogs do all day - sleep. Even now that I work from home, Kali is most often found either in her kennel (by choice, door open), on her bed at my feet, or on the couch sleeping. We take a walk every day - and we did when I was working outside the home - but the majority of her day is spent sleeping.
ReplyDeleteThere are also places here in town that have doggy day camp that you could take a puppy to occasionally for some fun with other pups - as well as some services that will let him out for you during the day if you need to.
Sorry for such a long comment, I too had a lot of guilt at getting a dog and not being home at first, but once I realized just how much she slept and how over Christmas and Spring breaks she would look at me like "why are you here? you are interrupting my nap time" I quickly realized that she was just fine while I was gone during the day :).
Hope to see pictures of a new pup soon!!!
